Sarajevo, Settling in

Stuffs been pretty good this week. This week Ramadan ended, which means we can start tracting again and people won't get super mad at us. They had Bajram this week though, which is the huge end of Ramadan celebration, so eveyone was gone on vacations and out partying and stuff, so it was hard to meet with people. Luckily this next week should be normal though. Our branch is great. Our branch president is from America and works at the embassy, we also have 4 members who live on the military base who are from Utah. There have only been missionaries here for a year and a half, so we have only 5 local members in Sarajevo. 2 of them are active and great. One of them is a middle aged lady, who was baptized when missionaries first got here, the other one is an older lady who was baptized in Germany 10 years ago or something, but is from Bosnia, and for a long time she was the only member in the country. Her husband isn't a member, but we teach him and he comes every week. 2 of the other members were baptized by missionaries here. 1 doesn't really like the church much anymore, and no one has any idea what happened to the other because she just never answers the door or her phone. There is also a guy who was baptized in Switzerland 17 years ago, but he's totally nuts. I met him once, and he talks to sidewalks and stuff. We are working with a couple of really cool people right now. We're teaching a lot to this guy named Al_____, who is a waiter at a restaurant next to our church. He used to be a semi-professional basketball player, but he had some bad injury so he had to stop. He has a wife and son who live in Italy, and he really loves how our church feels and teaches about families. He was raised Muslim. I haven't had any serious dog encounters yet, but there really are tons of them just hanging around in dumpsters and stuff. There isn't currently a senior couple in Sarajevo, but there is one coming in October, and it's actually Elder Babbel's sister and brother-in-law. Thanks for sending me all of the stuff for the background check, I'll hopefully be sending it to you sometime this week. Luckily for us it's pretty easy to do. There is a sister here from Canada, and apparently they said that for Canada you have to have the fingerprints done in Canada, or an embassy, and the nearest one of those is in Viena. I love you guys!

Schyler

We were driving this week to Banja Luka, and we decided to try another way. We went through these crazy canyon roads with lots of rocks and cliffs and stuff. It totally reminded me of driving in Utah. We took this picture from a little rest-stop/view point.

Since you asked about food I thought I'd send you some pictures of what we are doing. There are a ton of super delicious and super cheap food places here. But we also decided to be healthy and cool and cook at home more. We have nice apartment with a super huge balcony and a BBQ (I'll send pictures next week). Yesterday we barbqued some steaks, they were a bit tough, but way good.

Earlier this week we made some chicken cordon blue (I have no idea how to spell that) type things. We just cut open some big chicken fillets and put cheese in them and then crumbed it and pan fried it. and we had some fresh Nectarines and 100% orange juice.
