Dear family,
This week was pretty fun. "Thug nasty", is what we like to call Sarajevo, because in some
places it's kind of dirty, and maybe a little "sketchy or unsafe",
but don't worry, we use the term "thug-nasty" affectionately. We
mostly just say that to feel cool that we're in a way hardcore mission, and
not somewhere with an actual stable government and
stuff.
We had mission leadership council in
Zagreb, so we drove up to Banja Luka Thursday afternoon, and went on splits
with the Elders there that night. That night Elder Fausnaught and I got chased
by two tiny little new born kittens (yes we were running away and they kept
running after us meowing adorably), it was the most adorable thing that has
ever happened to me. After that we got stopped by this drunk guy who said he
was a satanist, that was slightly less adorable. After the council we went on
exchanges with the AP's, and on Saturday we found and taught this lady that has
9 kids! That's absolutely unreal in Europe. It was super good, and she said
she'd call us when she could get her whole family together, so we could teach
them all!
Yesterday in church we had 26 people! Some of them were visitors from
America, but still 26 people is the most Sarajevo has ever had! This one family
finally came to church who we've been inviting for the last several weeks. A
couple months ago the senior couple from Tuzla was driving back to Tuzla, from
Sarajevo, and as they were driving out of town they stopped at a gas station
way on the outskirts of Sarajevo. They met the guy who owns the little coffee shop/restaurant attached to the gas station, and turns out that he and his wife
lived in Salt-Lake for 12 years and they have a 7 year old daughter who was
born there, and they are all American citizens. They moved back to Bosnia about
a year ago. Since then we always stop by there and say hi, whenever we are
driving somewhere (which is a lot). They finally came to church this week, and
it seemed like they really liked it. They have already, obviously, had contact
with the church in Salt Lake, and the wife met president Hinkley once. They are
super good, and after they get baptized, he will probably be the first native
branch president in Sarajevo.
Love you guys!
