Dear family,
So, this week I've got a bit more time to write a complete
email and tell you more stuff. I've been having a good time down here in the Rijeka. It's
continuing to heat up, and starting to get more humid and sweaty. I realized,
and I feel kind of dumb that it took me this long, that the reason why they
said to bring a bunch of short sleeved shirts and only a couple long ones, is
because you can be fine re-wearing long sleeved shirts a few times without
washing them in the winter, but now, having to re-wear a shirt that you wore
earlier in the week, and it got totally soaked through with sweat is gross. We're
all getting a little anxious because the transfer is almost over, and there are
some big things happening this transfer. One, the country of Montenegro is
joining the Adriatic north mission (it was in the Adriatic South). Elder
Blackburn from our MTC group, who we never thought we'd see again, is there
and will be in our mission now. Next, we're switching to 6 week transfers, like
most of the other missions in the world already are, and because of that this
next transfer will be only 3 weeks, and then they will be 6 starting the one
after that, so things might get a bit crazy in the next couple months.
Also, we have some good stuff
happening in Rijeka. About 2 months ago (I think I told you most of this, but
whatever) we were approached by this lady who is a good friend of one of our
former investigators. Her son who is 13 will be starting middle/high school
(the systems a little different here) in the fall, but he failed his English
test. He was re-taking it is 2 weeks, and she had heard that we taught free
English class and really wanted us to help him study. So, we helped him (and
his little brother came to) study English. We invited them to the open house,
and they came. They also came to church the next day. They then came to Jordan's
baptism, and to sacrament meeting after that. 2 weeks ago, we went over to
their house, for the first time, and had a little FHE with the sister
missionaries and them. We've taught them a couple lessons since then, and they
actually asked us (instead of us them) if they could get baptized. Theie mom has
been there for all of the teaching, and is actually really encouraging it. She
still has some concerns about herself getting baptized though. But anyway,
An?elo and Roberto (Ages 13 and 11) are scheduled to be baptized on the
10th of next month. So that's super exciting.
Well, that is about all for this week, keep it awesome
family.
Schyler
